Nevada Business & Industry (B&I) Licensure CTE Endorsement
The State of Nevada Department of Education provides special teaching licenses (7th grade through Adult) for individuals desiring to teach Career and Technical Education in public schools. Endorsements range from accounting to criminal justice, medical technicians, and welding. UNLV, through the Career & Technical and Postsecondary program, offers the coursework required by the State for the B&I License.

The 12-credit Graduate Certificate in Career and Technical Education is ideal for those with specific occupational knowledge and skills who want to seek professional advancement in education and training or those pursuing Nevada CTE endorsement. It combines career and technical education teaching methodology with practical knowledge of curriculum development and techniques for advising student organizations.

M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction, with a concentration in CTPE (online)
This 30-credit concentration in Career & Technical and Postsecondary Education (CTPE) aims to prepare career and technical educators in secondary and postsecondary settings. Preparation focuses on instructional and curricular decision-making processes and teaching methods. Courses are offered in the evenings, weekends, and online. The study plan includes four required courses for the Nevada Department of Education CTE endorsement. Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Career and Technical Education can transfer all four courses into this degree plan. Apply for the M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction Subplan 1 Professional Studies Track and select Career and Technical and Postsecondary Education as your concentration.

Career and Technical Education Alternative Route to Licensure (ARL)
The Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education offers individuals with bachelor’s degrees in fields outside of education a pathway to become teachers. After completing one semester and meeting licensing requirements, students can obtain a conditional teaching license in Nevada. The program also leads to full Nevada standard licensing and a master’s degree.
This program focuses on Career and Technical Education. The Department aims to prepare and develop educators by grounding its programs in essential knowledge, current research, and effective professional practices.

The NV|Forward Graduate Apprenticeship Program in Teaching, formerly known as the Accelerated Alternate Route to Licensure program or A-ARL, is an innovative fast-track for individuals who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in a non-education field and are interested in teaching in Nevada.

M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction, with a concentration in Professional Training and Development (online)
This 30-credit concentration aims to prepare training and development specialists and managers who oversee workforce education and professional advancement in public and private settings. Courses are offered in the evenings, weekends, and online. According to the labor market analysis we conducted using Lightcast, the courses in the study plan match the current required skills of the targeted professionals. Apply for the M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction Subplan 1 Professional Studies Track and select Professional Training and Development as your concentration.

This 33-credit master’s degree plan aims to prepare educators and professionals who are in charge of data analysis, report generation, and policy implementation. Students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to conduct research, analyze data, and use scientific evidence to inform decision-making. This plan includes selecting a thesis committee and completing a thesis.

Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction, with a concentration in CTPE
Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration in Career & Technical and Postsecondary Education (CTPE) is designed to develop future leaders/educators to make evidence-based decisions related to planning, organizing, delivering, and evaluating workforce education and development systems. Program graduates typically seek research and teaching faculty positions in universities; administrative and policy positions in local, state, and national education and other governmental agencies; instructional/curricular leadership positions within school districts; leadership and teaching positions in secondary, community, and technical colleges, and training positions in a variety of adult education and training environments. This degree program has two tracks.
